Josef Obkircher

Josef Obkircher (born February 9, 1783 in Donaueschingen , † April 18, 1854 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a Baden lawyer and politician.

Life

Josef Obkircher studied philosophy and law at the University of Freiburg from 1800 to 1804 , where he passed the state examination in 1808. From 1804 Obkircher worked in Donaueschingen as an accessist at the Obervogteiamt and as an assistant at the government chancellery there. From 1808 to 1812 he was lawyer at the law firm in Donaueschingen and from 1812 to 1814 auditor at the Stühlingen staff office . From 1814 to 1819 Obkircher was a civil servant at the Villingen office and from 1819 to 1827 he was a magistrate and chief executive at the neighbourhood-Fürstenberg office of Neustadt . In 1824 he was promoted to senior bailiff. From 1827 to 1836 he held the position of court judge at the court court of the Seekreis in Meersburg and from 1836 to 1841 that of a court advisor at the higher court in Mannheim . From 1841 to 1851 he was director of the court at the Middle Rhine District in Rastatt . In 1842 Obkircher was appointed president of the court. From 1845 he was also an extraordinary member of the State Council. In 1851 he retired.

Obkircher belonged from 1835 to 1840 as a member of the offices of Villingen and Hüfingen in the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly . In 1844, Obkircher was a member of the First Chamber as a representative of the State University of Heidelberg . From 1848 to 1854 Obkircher was a member of the First Chamber appointed by the Grand Duke.

Josef Obkircher was the son of a musician and lackey at the court of Prince zu Fürstenberg . He belonged to the Roman Catholic Church. Josef Obkircher was married. His son Hermann Obkircher was Baden's Minister of Justice.
