Hermann Obkircher

Rudolf Hermann Obkircher (born April 22, 1819 in Villingen ; † September 30, 1881 in Karlsruhe ) was a German lawyer and Baden politician.

Hermann Obkircher was the son of Joseph Obkircher, President of the Court of Justice, who retired in 1852 . He belonged to the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Obkircher studied law at the University of Heidelberg , where he passed the legal state examination in 1842. He then entered the public service as a legal intern. In 1844 he took over the position of administrator at the Rastatt Oberamt . In 1847 he moved to the government of the Lower Rhine District . Since Obkircher refused to take the oath of service to the revolutionary government formed in May 1849 , he was removed from office. After he had worked as the secretary of the Baden civil commissioner in the Prussian occupation army, he joined the government of the Upper Rhine District in October 1849 as an assessor . In March 1855 he was appointed government councilor. In December 1855 he was transferred to the court judge of the Upper Rhine District in Freiburg . In July 1864 he was appointed director of the newly established district court in Heidelberg . In June 1871 he took over the chairmanship of the Supreme Court of the Grand Duchy of Baden as a court judge , and in 1879 the presidium of the newly established higher regional court in Karlsruhe .

politics

Obkircher was a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly from 1863 to 1866 as a member of the City of Freiburg . From 1868 to 1871 he was Baden's Minister of Justice in the Jolly cabinet . In 1869 the University of Freiburg elected him as its representative for the First Chamber. From 1871 to 1880 Obkircher was again a member of the First Chamber, but this time by appointment by the Grand Duke. From 1873 to 1880 he also served as President of the First Chamber.

family

Obkircher was married to Natalie von Wänker. Numerous children emerged from the marriage, including Rudolf Obkircher , member of the Baden state parliament and Reichstag .
