Josef Rief (politician)
Josef Rief (born April 13, 1960 in Illertissen ) is a German farmer , politician ( CDU ) and member of the German Bundestag .
Life and work
Born in Illertissen , grew up in Kirchberg an der Iller , he attended elementary school in Kirchberg an der Iller and later the secondary school in Gutenzell-Hürbel , Erolzheim and Kirchberg. From 1978 to 1980 he graduated from the agricultural college in Biberach an der Riss . First he did his basic military service in 1980 with the rocket artillery battalion 250 in Großengstingen and later with the army aviators of the medium transport helicopter regiment 25 "Oberschwaben" in Laupheim . He then completed his secondary school certificate at the evening secondary school in Biberach. In 1984 he passed the examination to become an agricultural master. He runs a pig farm and a small beekeeping in Kirchberg an der Iller.
He is married and has three children.
Political party
He joined the Junge Union in 1978 . In 1985 he became a member of the CDU. In the same year he attended the rural youth academy in Bonn . Since 1996 he has been chairman of the Kirchberg CDU community association and from 1989 to 1999 a member of the Kirchberg community council. In 1999 he became district chairman of the CDU in the Biberach district and since 2002 a member of the district council. In 2007 he became a member of the CDU state board of Baden-Württemberg.
MP
2009 won scoring in the general election the direct mandate in the Bundestag constituency Biberach to which, since 2009, back parts of the Altlandkreises cheeks and was includes a member of the German Bundestag. On July 5, 2012, he was nominated and re-elected as a candidate of the CDU for the 2013 federal election. In the 2013 federal election, Josef Rief received the best result among all CDU MPs with an increase of 16.3 percent of the votes. In 2016, the members of the CDU in the Biberach district nominated Josef Rief again as a candidate for the 2017 federal election with 99.4 percent of the vote.
He is a full member of the Budget Committee and the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth in the German Bundestag.
Volunteering
Rief was a long-time board member of the Green Circle of rural youth in Biberach and was active in various functions in the Biberach farmers' association .
Josef Rief is a member of the board of the German division of the World League for Freedom and Democracy .
Rief is also a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
