The loyal Pegasus above, a winged mythical creature from Greek mythology was the child of the sea god Poseidon and the gorgon Medusa and the sky-blue color in the upper area symbolizes the medium of air in which the regiment moves. Pegasus carried the warrior Bellerophon into battle against the Chimera and the Amazons . Even the Roman Legio I Adiutrix had Pegasus in their legionary coat of arms. The lower left half in silver represents the earth. In the middle there is the Iron Cross, which establishes the bond with the Bundeswehr and its military tasks. The yellow border symbolizes that the regiment originally belonged to the corps troops , although in the end it was directly subordinate to the Air Mobile Operations Division.
