Josef Seifried
Josef Seifried (* 9. May 1892 in Munich , † 9 July 1962 ) was a German SPD - politician .
Life
Josef Seifried attended a secondary school and worked until 1919 as a merchant in the newspaper industry . Early on he became involved in the Bavarian trade union movement , in which he for the area Munich and South Bavaria soon functionary tasks perceived. From 1928 to 1933 he was an MP for the SPD in the Bavarian state parliament .
Between 1933 and 1945 Josef Seifried was interned twice by the National Socialists and, despite his physical handicap, spent the last two years of the war as a slave laborer in Munich.
After the Second World War , Josef Seifried made a significant political contribution to the reconstruction of Bavaria. From June to October 1945 he was a member of the Munich City Council and from October 22, 1945 to September 20, 1947, Bavarian State Minister of the Interior . He was part of the preparatory constitutional committee that was set up by the American occupation forces in 1946 to draw up the constitution of the Free State of Bavaria . From 1948 to 1949 he was a member of the Parliamentary Council . In 1949 Seifried was also a member of the first federal assembly . In 1950 he left the Bavarian state parliament.
In 1956 Josef Seifried was awarded the Great Cross of Merit with a Star and on December 15, 1959, was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.
