Josef Weilbächer (born December 29, 1944 in Hattersheim ) is a former German football player .

Career

Josef Weilbächer played in the youth team from SV Hattersheim. In 1962 he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt and took part with the German national youth team in April 1963 in the UEFA youth tournament in England. In the two group matches against Scotland (2: 1) and Switzerland (2: 1) he was used as a left defender. Participants in the most important European junior competition were Jürgen Rumor , Ferdinand Heidkamp , Helmut Sandmann , Klaus Zaczyk , Willi Dürrschnabel and Günter Netzer . In 1963, Eintracht was one of the founding members of the Bundesliga . "Seppl" Weilbächer made his debut on September 19, 1963, in the 3-0 away defeat at Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga. He formed the defender couple with Hermann Höfer . HSV led the Bundesliga table by double points with 7: 1 points, while Eintracht was in penultimate place with 1: 7 points. From 1963 to 1965, Hans Weilbächer’s younger brother only made four Bundesliga appearances at Eintracht. His last Bundesliga game for the Adlerträger he played on May 15, 1965 in the 1: 2 away defeat against 1. FC Kaiserslautern at the side of goalkeeper Egon Loy , center runner Friedel Lutz and center forward Erwin Stein .

In 1965 he moved on to Kickers Offenbach in the Regionalliga Süd . He became a regular player under Kickers coach Kurt Baluses and won the runner-up in 1966 and 1968, and the championship with the OFC in 1967. In the third year of Weilbächer with the Kickers, 1967/68 , he was promoted to the Bundesliga. But the team from Bieberer Berg around the "Idol" Hermann Nuber dismounted immediately. Weilbächer was used in all 34 league games and scored two goals. In the following season 1969/70 , the Kickers managed to be the first team in the second division to win the DFB Cup , as well as to return to the Bundesliga. Thus, Weilbächer played another season in the Bundesliga in 1970/71 . He came in the " scandal round " under the three coaches Aki Schmidt , Rudi Gutendorf and Kuno Klötzer on 24 missions. On the last round match day, June 5, 1971, Offenbach lost 2: 4 goals at 1. FC Köln and was thus relegated in terms of sport. "Seppl" Weilbächer defended with Egon Schmitt , Helmut Kremers and Lothar Skala in front of goalkeeper Karlheinz Volz . Weilbächer played a total of 316 games for Offenbach and scored ten goals, including 58 Bundesliga games with two goals and 137 games in the Regionalliga Süd in which he scored five goals. In the summer of 1971 he moved to Alemannia Klein-Auheim in his dormitory.

The later print shop owner also worked on the board of directors of Kickers Offenbach in later years.
