Josep Maria Mauri

Josep Maria Mauri i Prior (* 1941 in Alzina de Moror , Comarca Pallars Jussà ) is a Spanish Roman Catholic priest, vicar general and episcopal vicar for economic affairs in the diocese of Urgell . He is also the personal representative of the Bishop of Urgell Joan Enric Vives i Sicília in his function as Co-Prince of Andorra and thus representative of the Episcopal Head of State of the Principality of Andorra .

Career

Mauri was born in Alzina de Moror in the Comarca Pallars Jussà in 1941. In 1965 he was ordained a priest . He studied philosophy and theology at the seminary in Urgell and acquired the Licentiate of Church History of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and a licentiate of the Faculty of Arts, University of Barcelona in the Department of History.

After that he was vicar of Andorra la Vella for five years and also held other church functions.

From 1994 to 2002 he was the managing director of the Caritas Association of the Diocese of Urgell. From 1997 to 2003 he was pastor and archpriest of Tremp .

Since 2003 he has been Episcopal Vicar and Treasurer of the Diocese of Urgell, Canon in La Seu d'Urgell, Member of the Council of Churches and the Administrative Council in Urgell and Commissioner of the Diocese of Urgell for Cultural Heritage.

In 2010 he became vicar general of the diocese and deputy personal representative of the bishop as co-prince of Andorra. On July 20, 2012, he took over the office of personal representative from the previous incumbent Nemesi Marqués Oste .
