Joseph Anton Rhomberg (also: Josef Anton , born on September 24, 1786 in Dornbirn ; died on December 3, 1853 in Munich ) was an Austrian - German painter , draftsman and graphic artist , father of Hanno Rhomberg .

Life

Joseph Anton Rhomberg came from a family of entrepreneurs from Dornbirn (textile industry) with the house name “Färbers”. His parents were the portrait painter Johannes Rhomberg (1733–1795) and Katharina, b. Rhomberg. Joseph Anton was the youngest son of a total of ten children. The birthplace is in Dornbirn in the Eisengasse 11. 9) Rhomberg studied since 1802 in Vienna history painting at the Academy of Fine Arts , 1809 to 1816 when Robert Langer , Joseph Hauber , Andreas Seidl and Moritz Kellerhoven and in Munich at the Royal Academy of Art . From 1817 to 1822 he lived in Vienna. From 1823 he lived again in Munich, where he became professor for drawing at the Polytechnic School in 1827 .
