Josipdol (German outdated: Josephthal ) is a municipality in central Croatia not far from Ogulin in the Karlovac County . According to the 2011 census, the village had 3,773 inhabitants.
Josipdol is located on the historically significant Josephinische Strasse (Croatian Jozefina ), a former salt road that runs from Karlovac to Senj and connects central Croatia with the coast.
Josipdol is an important train stop for the surrounding towns in the region. Not far from Josipdol in Oštarije there is an important railroad crossing. This is where the railway lines from Rijeka and Split to Zagreb connect .
The city name literally means "Josefstal" or "Josefs level".
