Journey's End is a British war drama directed by Saul Dibb that premiered on September 8, 2017 at the Toronto International Film Festival . The film is based on a play of the same name by RC Sherriff .

A group of British officers, led by the young Captain Stanhope, who is gradually losing his mind, awaits their fate in very different ways on the River Aisne in northeastern France in 1918.
Original and earlier film adaptation
It is in Journey's End at the film adaptation of a play of the same name RC Sherriff . The British author's war drama premiered on December 9, 1928 at the Apollo Theater in London by the Incorporated Stage Society. Among the actors was the young Laurence Olivier . The entire story takes place during four days from March 18, 1918 to March 21, 1918 in the run-up to Operation Michael . The piece quickly gained international fame.
As early as 1930, the play was filmed by James Whale with Colin Clive in the role of Captain Stanhope.

The film premiered on September 8, 2017 at the Toronto International Film Festival and was screened at the London Film Festival on October 6, 2017 , before releasing in cinemas in the UK on February 2, 2018. The film was released in selected US cinemas on March 16, 2018.
