Julian Hollender

Julian Hollender (born May 2, 1938 - July 22, 2010 ) was a German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador in Mozambique , Portugal and Cape Verde .

Life

Hollender studied foreign policy at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg from 1958 to 1964 . In 1964 he joined the diplomatic service of the GDR.

From 1967 to 1968 and from 1970 to 1974 he worked at the Consulate General in Tanzania . From 1974 to 1978 Hollender worked as deputy head of the East and Central Africa department in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). From 1978 to 1981 he was the GDR's ambassador to the People's Republic of Mozambique. Then he was again Deputy Head of the East and Central Africa Department at the MfAA. From 1986 to 1990 he was the last ambassador of the GDR in Lisbon . From 1988 he was second accredited in the Republic of Cape Verde.

Hollender was a member of the SED . He was a co-founder of the Friends Help Friends Association , which provides international humanitarian aid and help for self-help.
