Julius Derschatta from Standhalt
Julius Derschatta Edler von Standhalt (born September 12, 1852 in Zara , Dalmatia , Austrian Empire , † February 3, 1924 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician.
Career
Derschatta von Standhalt was born as the son of a field marshal lieutenant . He studied at the University of Graz , where he became a member of the Arminia fraternity in 1870 . He later worked as a lawyer in the Duchy of Styria . Since 1885 he had been a Styrian member of the Reichsrat , the parliament of the Austrian half of Austria-Hungary , and was chairman of the German national , liberal and anti-Semitic German People's Party, founded in 1896 . From June 2, 1906 to November 15, 1908, he was rail minister in the Austrian government headed by Max Wladimir von Beck . During his tenure, the northern railway , the most important railway line in the monarchy, was nationalized.
