Julius Moser (sculptor)
Julius Karl Adalbert Moser (born June 14, 1832 in Berlin ; † January 13, 1916 in Steglitz ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Julius Moser was born on June 14, 1832 in Berlin as the son of the confectioner Julius Eduard Alexander Moser and his wife Dorothea Friederike Therese, née. Moselle, born.
He trained at the Berlin Academy under Ferdinand August Fischer and Friedrich Drake and made study trips to Rome and Paris in 1857 and 1858 . In 1888 he became royal professor in Berlin.
His statues and groups of religious, mythological and allegorical content are distinguished by the noble formation of shapes , while his portraits and statues reveal a lively feeling for nature with a simple, realistic conception.
In 1860 he married Therese Emilie Clara Sixtus in his first marriage and in 1879 in his second marriage Luise Anna Johanna Caroline Hustaedt. The first marriage had four children and the second two.

His main works are:
- the monument of Cornelius de Greiff in Krefeld , the city's benefactor
- the seated sandstone figure of the art technique on the outside of the (old) National Gallery
- the colossal statue of a blessing Christ for the Dreifaltigkeitskirche in Berlin (1875)
- the Naumburg war memorial for Naumburg (Saale)
- the bust of General Friedrich Wilhelm von Seydlitz in the western Feldherrenhalle of the Hall of Fame of the Berlin Armory
- the bust of Kurt Christoph Graf von Schwerin there
- some allegorical groups at Dwasieden Castle of the banker Adolph von Hansemann on Rügen .
- the colossal bronze statues of the kings Friedrich Wilhelm I and Friedrich Wilhelm III. of Prussia above the columned portal of the headquarters of the Hauptkadettenanstalt in Groß Lichterfelde near Berlin
- the group fishing for the Belle Alliance Bridge (today Hallesche Tor Bridge, Berlin-Kreuzberg )
- the marble group of a cupid who is robbed of weapons by a nymph
- the Werner von Siemens seat picture at the Potsdamer Brücke in Berlin
- and in 1888 a monument to Adelbert von Chamisso for Schloss Monbijou Berlin, which is still in Monbijou Park today.
