Juschny ( Russian Южный , German Aweiden and Speichersdorf ) is the common name of two formerly separate villages that belong to the Moscow Rajon of Kaliningrad (Königsberg (Prussia) ), the capital of the Kaliningrad Oblast ( Königsberg region ) in Russia .
Geographical location
Juschny is four kilometers south of the city center of Kaliningrad (Königsberg) on the arterial road to Doroschnoje (Altenberg) and Polewoje (Mahnsfeld) with a connection to the Russian trunk road R 516 (former German Reichsautobahn Berlin-Königsberg " Berlinka "). The nearest train station is Dschersinskaja-Novaja on the railway line from Kaliningrad to Bagrationovsk (Prussian Eylau) (former East Prussian Southern Railway ).
history
Until 1945
Juschny / Aweiden
The former Aweiden (after 1871 also Aweyden ) called Gutsdorf became the official seat and eponymous place of the newly established Aweiden district on April 30, 1874 . Until 1930 he belonged to the district of Königsberg (Prussia) in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 Aweiden had 185 inhabitants.
Between 1891 and 1928 local changes took place again and again, during which Aweiden gave up land and living spaces to the neighboring communities and thus completely disappeared as an independent place. The Aweiden district was dissolved in 1930.
In 1945 Aweiden came to the Soviet Union with the city of Königsberg (Prussia) and in 1946 was given the Russian name Juschny .
Aweiden District (1874–1930)
On April 30, 1874, the district of Aweiden was formed from a rural community and three manor districts:
German name | Russian name | Remarks |
---|---|---|
Rural community : | ||
Altenberg | Dorozhnoye | In 1930 outsourced to the Gollau district |
Manor districts : | ||

partial reclassifications to: Königsberg (Prussia) (1891), Friedrichstein (1893), Rosenau (1891/94), Altenberg (1927) and Seligenfeld (1928, from 1939 Königsberg) |
Rosenau | 1905 by Konigsberg (Prussia) incorporated | |
Speicherersdorf | Yuzhny | 1927 by Konigsberg (Prussia) incorporated |
Juschny / Speicherersdorf
The Gutsort, known as Speichersdorf until 1946, is located northeast of Aweiden and was assigned to its administrative district between 1874 and 1927. Thus the place belonged to the district of Königsberg (Prussia) in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910, there were 231 residents registered in Speichersdorf.
On June 16, 1927, Speichersdorf lost its independence and was incorporated into the city of Königsberg (Prussia) . With Königsberg, Speichersdorf came to the Soviet Union in 1945 and received - like Aweiden - the Russian name Juschny .
Since 1946
The two places Aweiden and Speichersdorf, united under the name Juschny, have belonged to the city of Kaliningrad since 1945 and were integrated into the newly formed city district called Moscow Rajon in 1947 .
church
Aweiden and Speichersdorf were parish up until 1945 with their predominantly Protestant population in the parish of Seligenfeld (today in Russian Dalneje, urban settlement within Kaliningrad). This belonged to the parish of Königsberg-Land I within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Friedrich Lautsch .
Today Juschny is located in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Kaliningrad , the main church of the newly established Kaliningrad provost within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELKER).
