Carinthia is running
Carinthia runs ( own spelling Carinthia runs ) is a half marathon that has been taking place in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee since 2002 and is organized by the Kleine Zeitung . The competition also includes a quarter marathon. The day before, there will also be children's competitions, a family run, a women's run and a dogging competition.
history
In the Carinthian sports calendar, Carinthia runs replaced the Klagenfurt Marathon organized by the Klagenfurt Athletics Club , which was held five times between 1997 and 2001. The following athletes won this run, in which the Austrian marathon championship was integrated in 1999 and 2001:

During the COVID-19 pandemic in Austria , Carinthia was one of the few officially approved events in 2020. The start in the Wörthersee Stadium took place in blocks of 100 individually and with a three-second gap between the runners.
route
The half marathon starts in Velden and leads along the north bank of the Wörthersee via Pörtschach and Krumpendorf to Klagenfurt. The quarter marathon starts in Pörtschach and is identical to the second half of the main competition.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , the run took place in 2020 with a changed route. Both the start and the finish of all runs were the Wörthersee Stadium. The route was located entirely in Klagenfurt and only partially ran along Lake Wörthersee. Most of the route was led along the Glanfurt and along the Lend Canal .
