Kéba Mbaye

Kéba Mbaye (born August 5, 1924 in Kaolack , Senegal , † January 11, 2007 in Dakar ) was a Senegalese lawyer ( judge ) and sports official.

Mbaye went to school in Dakar and studied law. He became a judge and president of the Senegalese Supreme Court. From 1982 to 1991 he was a judge and from 1987 to 1991 Vice-President of the International Court of Justice in The Hague , where he also served as an ad hoc judge on several cases.

From 1973 he was a member of the International Olympic Committee , from 1988 to 1992 and again from 1998 to 2002 as its vice-president. He also served as President of the International Sports Court from 1983 and as Chairman of the IOC Ethics Committee from 1999.

Mbaye was the author of several legal books.
