The first documented form of place names dates from 1335 as Koren .

In 1515 the official Friedrich von Zehmen owned the village, in 1524 the villages Rohrbach and Lindhardt came to the local parish. Until 1681 Köhra was a divided village: one part belonged to the Pomßen estate, the other part to the Belgershain estate. In 1534 Moritz Pflug sold Pomßen with Köhra to von Minckwitz , two years later it was handed over to Ponickau. In 1556, Dippold von Schönfeld received the manor of Belgershain. The church was first mentioned in a visitation report from 1580, the year of construction is unknown. In 1719 the Belgershain windmill was rebuilt as the Köhraer Mühle.

In 1817 August Schumann mentions Threna in the State, Post and Newspaper Lexicon of Saxony concerning a. a .:

“[…] Not far from the Partha . It has a parish church and school, which are under the inspection of Grimma, and whose collator is the owner of the Naunhof manor . A branch of the local church is in Rohrbach; The Vorwerk Linda (Lindhard ) is parish . The village of Köhra belongs in writing. to the manor Belgershain, has a companion from Grimma, a windmill, and 185 inhabitants who have 18  hooves , 16 horses and 117 cows. "

The local school became independent in 1860, and a new school was built 8 years later.

Furthermore, it says in the work "New Saxon Church Gallery" from 1911 concerning the place u. a .:

“The number of inhabitants was around 300 around 1840, currently around 450, 25 years ago still over 500. Most of them live from agriculture and cattle breeding, the poorer were craftsmen and day laborers . The latter found regular employment at the Belgershain manor, especially since the merrymakers were replaced . - Now the predominant occupation of the local residents is mostly agricultural. [...]. "

As a result of the land reform after the end of World War II, the Belgershain manors were expropriated with Köhra, as a result there were 45 new farmers , 8 poor farmers and 86 small settlers in the village.
On May 1, 1949, the Köhra parish became a sister church of Belgershain - this was planned as early as 1931. On July 29, 1952, the LPG "Friendship" Köhra was founded as the first LPG in what was then the district of Grimma. One of the founding members was the then Neubauer Erich Wippich. 1974 Köhra was incorporated into Belgershain. 1979 became the LPG "Tierproduktion" Köhra. On May 16, 1983, a storm swept over the town, causing property damage.
