The regional tramway from Merseburg to Müchi operated by Merseburger Überlandbahn AG (MÜBAG), which was put into operation on February 5, 1913 , offered a good rail connection to Merseburg. As early as 1922 to 1924, the line was first relocated due to lignite mining in the Geiseltal. The connection was discontinued in 1968. Today only the terminus Merseburg-Süd serves the tram in the catchment area Kötzschen to connect to Merseburg.

The Merseburg – Querfurt railway runs on the south-eastern outskirts , but without a station. The next stop is Beuna , right behind the town limits.

Kötzschen is located near the federal motorway 38 . The Merseburg-Süd exit (25) is about three kilometers away.

Culture and community

Attractions

Kötzschen owns a church with a rectory. The Hoppenhauptkirche was built around 1710/20, presumably according to plans by Johann Michael Hoppenhaupt , which is why it is popularly known as the "Hoppenhauptkirche". It is characterized by a high and square north tower, which merges into an octagon. The nave, which is designed as a rectangular hall, still contains outstanding interior fittings. A lectern with a baptismal font by Johann Heinrich Agner, a pulpit altar by Christian Trothe and an organ by Johann David Tintzsch (1738) with a gallery are preserved features from the time the church was built. The rectory is in the immediate vicinity.
