Kęstutis Kėvalas (born February 17, 1972 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kaunas .
Life
After graduating from high school, Kęstutis Kėvalas initially studied from 1990 to 1992 at the Technical University of Kaunas . In 1993 he entered the Kaunas Seminary , where he studied Catholic theology and philosophy until 1997 . He then continued his studies at St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore , where he obtained a licentiate in theology. On 29 June 2000 he received in the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Kaunas the priesthood .
From 2001 to 2005 he was head of the preparatory seminar of the Archbishop's seminary and diocesan youth pastor . He also graduated from 2002 postgraduate studies of moral theology at Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas , where he in 2008 with a dissertation on the subject of nature and objectives of the private sector according to the encyclical Centesimus Annus for Dr. theol. received his doctorate , and was from 2005 to 2006 Spiritual of the Archbishop's Seminary. From 2009 to 2011 he was Vice Dean of the Faculty for Catholic Theology of the VDU.
On February 8, 2010, he became the program director of Radio Maria in Lithuania.
Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on September 27, 2012 titular bishop of Abziri and auxiliary bishop in Kaunas. The Archbishop of Kaunas, Sigitas Tamkevičius SJ , donated him the episcopal ordination on November 24th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Lithuania, Archbishop Luigi Bonazzi , and the Lithuanian military bishop Gintaras Linas Grušas .
On April 20, 2017 Pope appointed him Francis the Coadjutor Bishop of Telšiai . With the resignation of Jonas Borutas SJ on September 18, 2017, he succeeded him as Bishop of Telšiai.
On February 19, 2020, Francis appointed him Archbishop of Kaunas. The inauguration took place on June 24 of the same year.
