KXM is a 2013 in Los Angeles , California based American hard rock - Power Trio . The supergroup consists of drummer Ray Luzier (including Korn ), bassist and singer Doug Pinnick (including King's X ) and guitarist George Lynch (including Dokken , Lynch Mob ).
The band name is derived from the main bands of the individual members: K for Korn, X from King's X and M from Lynch Mob.
history
The band members met in 2013 at a celebration on the occasion of the first birthday of Luzier's son. Luzier showed Pinnick and Lynch his home studio and Lynch spontaneously suggested making music together.
The band's self-named debut album reflects the result of various jam sessions . It was recorded within ten days, released in March 2014 via Rat Pak Records and debuted at number 31 on the US Billboard 200 album chart . A second album entitled Scatterbrain was also released in 2017 via Rat Pak. The third work, Circle of Dolls , followed in 2019 and is distributed in Europe by Frontiers Music .
style
The German music portal Allschools considered the band's debut to be “an interesting mixture of progressive rock , soul singing and a few borrowings from early heavy metal ”.
Music critics repeatedly draw parallels to the music of Led Zeppelin , but borrowings from grunge can also be heard over and over again.
Matthias Weckmann from the German Metal Hammer drew comparisons to Soundgarden in 2019: “Various riffs embody a metallic trait, and at the presentation of Pinnick you can see once again why King's X are one of Alice in Chains' greatest influences . They are joined by jazzy gimmicks, high musicality , alternative trips and an equally powerful as transparent production [...]. If this album stands for something, then it is for three free spirits who invite the listener on an eventful and winding journey that is not always easy to understand. "
