The Cabinet of the Federal Chancellor  ( KabBK ) is the closest staff unit to the Austrian Federal Chancellor .

Function and organization

Every member of the government in Austria, head of state and vice-chancellor as well as federal minister , maintains a staff unit called the cabinet (to cabinet '[back] room').

The cabinet at the Federal Chancellery is the department that oversees the direct agendas of the Federal Chancellor, on the one hand as his private secretariat , and on the other hand, government portfolios that the Chancellor has stipulated for personal care, mostly because of their political relevance (unless there is a Chancellery Minister or - state secretary is entrusted with it). It also represents the Federal Chancellor in various important bodies.

The cabinet is not integrated into the official section structure of the Federal Chancellery, but is available for the personal use of the Chancellor himself. It generally comprises around a dozen familiar employees of an incumbent head of government.
The head of cabinet , who is not a member of the government himself, is one of the more influential people in Austrian domestic politics. Another important position in the cabinet is the press spokesman for the Chancellery. Otherwise it remains largely in the background in Austrian politics. In addition to the head of the cabinet, his deputies and the press spokesman, the office of the appointment secretariat of the cabinet of the Federal Chancellor and the secretariat of the cabinet of the Federal Chancellor are affiliated.
