Kai Bierich

Kai Bierich (* 1957 in Hamburg ) is a German architect . In addition to Tobias Wulf , Alexander Vohl , Jan-Michael Kallfaß, Ingmar Menzer and Steffen Vogt, he was managing partner of the architecture office Wulf Architekten in Stuttgart until 2018 .

Life

From 1977 to 1985 Kai Bierich studied at the Technical University of Darmstadt with a diploma. 1986–1987 he worked in the Behnisch & Partner office in Stuttgart. From 1986 to 1992 he worked as a freelance architect. His collaboration with Tobias Wulf began in 1992, and from 1996 he was a partner at Wulf & Partner. From 2011 on, he managed the Wulf Architekten GmbH office together with Tobias Wulf and Alexander Vohl , and from 2015 to 2018 also with Jan-Michael Kallfaß, Ingmar Menzer and Steffen Vogt. In 2019 he founded Studio Bierich, office for architecture and interior design in Stuttgart, together with his wife Van Le-Bierich.

Teaching

From 1989 to 1996 he held various teaching positions for design at the University of Stuttgart . 1997–2001 he was a lecturer at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . From 2006 to 2009 he was visiting professor in Tianjin and Beijing in China . Before that, he had also worked as an architect in China, Malaysia , India and Russia since 2005 .

Regarding his approach to design, he emphasizes: "Integrating or revitalizing the particularity of the place in a meaningful way guides our design - not the superficial integration. The environment, history, landscape forms and memories are important points of view for us."
