The Kaiwo Maru (海王 丸 | Kaiō-Maru) is a four- master . She is a sailing training ship from the Institute of Sea Training in Tokyo.
General
The Kaiwo Maru is the successor ship to the Kaiwo Maru (I). She is the sister ship of the Nippon Maru .
The keel-laying of the Kaiwo Maru took place on July 8, 1988, almost a year later, on March 7, 1989, was the launch . The Kaiwo Maru was built by the Uraga Dockyard Sumitomo Heavy Industry in Uraga. The commissioning took place on September 9, 1989. The home port of the Kaiwo Maru is Tokyo .

Sail area and sails
The entire sail area of the Kaiwo Maru is 2760 m², spread over 36 sails. The sails from the 36 sails are divided into double topsails , double bullsails , royals and on the mizzen mast : lower besan, upper besan, mizzen top sail.
