Kalidou Sow (born December 2, 1980 in L'Haÿ-les-Roses ) is a professional French poker player .

Personal

Sow comes from L'Haÿ-les-Roses and grew up in simple circumstances. He has played basketball since he was five , but was unable to pursue a professional career due to an injury. Sow has a son.

Poker career

Sow learned poker playing with friends. He started out with cash games but has now focused on live tournaments , which he has been playing since 2013. Sow has been part of Team PokerStars since April 2019 .

In mid-December 2015, Sow took third place at the main event of the France Poker Series in Enghien-les-Bains for prize money of 72,000 euros . In June 2016 he won the Deepstack Main Event of the Barrière Poker Tour in Toulouse with a prize money of 32,100 euros. At the beginning of December 2016, Sow won the high roller of the Belgian Poker Challenge in Namur for around 40,000 euros. At the end of July 2017, he came third at the high roller event of the PokerStars Festival in Lille and received over 30,000 euros. In mid-December 2017, Sow won the main event of the last edition of the PokerStars Championship in Prague . For this he won against 854 other players through and secured by a deal in the Heads-Up with Jason Wheeler , a prize money of 675,000 euros. At the end of January 2018, Sow also won the main event of the PokerStars Festival in London and received around 170,000 US dollars for this success as well as a "Platinum Pass" worth 30,000 US dollars for participation in the PokerStars Players Championship in January 2019 eligible in the Bahamas . At the beginning of March 2018 he also prevailed as the winner of the high roller of the Winamax Poker Tour in Paris and secured prize money of 100,000 euros. In 2019 , Sow was successful for the first time in the main tournament series of the World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and achieved twice, u. a. in the main event , the money ranks.

In total, Sow has earned more than $ 1.5 million in poker playing live tournaments.
