Kaliopi Bukle ( Macedonian : Калиопи Букле; born December 28, 1966 in Ohrid ) is a Macedonian rock and pop singer .

As a child, she won a singing competition. As a teenager she traveled all over Yugoslavia as a member of a choir. In the 1980s she became known across the country as the singer of the pop duo Kaliopi . Her then partner, the composer Romeo Grill, worked alongside her in the band. After two successful albums, Kaliopi decided to pursue a solo career. In 1996 she won the first Macedonian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest with her self-composed soul piece Samo ti , but was selected in the qualifying round and was therefore not allowed to take part in the competition in Oslo . Her first solo album, Oboi Me , was released in 1999 .

In 2009, together with the singer Naum Petreski , she won the Sunčane Skale pop music competition with the title Rum, dum dum .

Makedonska Radio-Televizija decided in November 2011 that Kaliopi should represent Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 . With the rocking song Црно и бело (“Black and White”) she made it into the finals, where she took 13th place.

She was selected internally to represent Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm with the song Dona . She finished in eleventh place with 88 points in the second semi-final and was eliminated early.

Private

In addition to Macedonian , Serbo-Croatian and English , Kaliopi speaks fluent German .
