Kalle Kubik (* 1948 in Cologne ) is a German director and author . As a director he works primarily for the theater and opera ; as an author for theater, cabaret and television, among others . Kalle Kubik lives in Bonn .

Activity as a director

Kubik grew up in Wahn near Cologne. After an apprenticeship as a bookseller, he graduated from the Max Reinhardt School for Drama in Berlin (1969–1972). He received his first engagement at the stages of the city of Cologne , under the management of Claus-Helmuth Dreese, initially as an actor, later as assistant director to the then acting director Hansgünther Heyme . In 1976 Kubik went to the Hamburger Schauspielhaus as an assistant director . Under the directorship of Ivan Nagel, he assisted a. a. with Rainer Werner Fassbinder , Giorgio Strehler and Wilfried Minks . In the same year he made his first production in Cologne, “Blutsbande” by Athol Fugard, a German premiere. Further productions followed and a. at the stages of the city of Cologne, the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , the Staatstheater Stuttgart , the Wuppertaler Schauspielhaus , the Stadttheater Bern , the Schauspiel Bonn , the Schlosstheater Celle , the TfN Hildesheim, the Opera of the City of Cologne.

Author activity

Kubik was the author and director of five solo evenings for Susanne Seidler. Appearances: Münchner-Lach-und-Schießgesellschaft , Senftöpfchen in Cologne, Unterhaus in Mainz, Kom (m) ödchen in Düsseldorf, Renitenztheater in Stuttgart, Dresdner Brettl and in the House of the Jumping Mouse in Bonn. He wrote four revues for the Schlosstheater Celle, three for the House of the Springmaus and six divertissements for the Cologne men's choir Cäcilia Wolkenburg . The latter were recorded by the television station WDR.

He is also the author of the plays "Einfach So"; "The day that Jo Goldenberg came home"; “No connection under this number” (piece about Irmgard Keun); “Silberhochzeit” (musical comedy), the tabloid comedy “Origin with a View” in collaboration with screenwriter and actress Ulrike Purschke; “Downfall”, a play about a writer under the spell of four women, and the climatic hit comedy “Quite normal madness”.

He worked as a screenwriter for Die Anrheiner (WDR Cologne). Use daily (ZDF). Dispute over three (ZDF). He wrote and directed the 45-minute documentary film A Dryer Helps Alcoholics (WDR).

From 2013 to 2015 he took part in three writing seminars by Bodo Kirchhoff in Torri on Lake Garda.

Further productions

In 2005, the Schauspiel Bonn produced Das doppelte Lottchen (stage version by Kalle Kubik) and in 2006 Sonny Boys by Neil Simon , as well as the musical Der Lebkuchenmann , a Christmas fairy tale by David Wood .

Since 2001 Kalle Kubik has been responsible for many productions at the Schlosstheater Celle, including a. Secretaries from Franz Wittenbrink , Die Hose from Carl Sternheim , Threepenny Opera from Bertolt Brecht, Johnny Johnson from Paul Green (music: Kurt Weill ), as well as his self-composed revue theater trilogy: That was only once (2005), guilt was only the Bossa Nova (2007) and buy yourself a colorful balloon (2009).
