Rosenhagen Chapel

The Protestant Chapel Rosenhagen is a chapel from the 17th century in Rosenhagen , a district of the Bugewitz community in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Historically a branch church of St. Petri Church (Kagendorf) , it belongs to the parish Ducherow in the Pasewalk provost in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

location

Coming from the southwest, the municipal road of the same name leads through Rosenhagen and opens up the town. It runs across the town to the east. On the eastern village green , the building stands on an area that is not fenced .

history

The sacred building was probably built in the 17th century. Around 1835, the church patron and owner of Rosenhagen, the city of Anklam , had the building remodeled. The neo-Gothic windows were enlarged and the church furnishings were replaced.

In 1966 the half-timbered church tower had become dilapidated and had to be replaced with a smaller one. In the 21st century, larger parts of the plastered ceiling are falling off, so that the building is closed to the public.

Building description

View from the east

The choir has just moved in and has not moved in. The eastern side is dominated by two large pointed arched windows that are embedded in two-tiered walls . There is a small, wooden door in the gable .

The north and south walls of the nave are symmetrical and comparatively simple. There are three windows here that take up the shape of the choir windows.

On the west wall is a large, pointed arched gate with which the building can be entered. The gable is closed and plastered remains in 2017. Above it is a small, rectangular attachment with two sound arcades on the west and east side and one sound arcade on the remaining sides. It ends with a bent pyramid roof and a cross.

Furnishing

View into the nave

The church furnishings essentially come from the time of the renovation. The Dehio manual describes them as “complex”, including the pulpit altar , the stalls and the west gallery. They are held in a light gray and adorned with quatrefoils and pointed arches. A plaque showing an assault commemorates those who fell from the First World War .

A bell has been hanging in the tower since 1945, cast in 1914 by the CF Rochlitz company in Berlin . It originally comes from the carillon of the Ducherow church .

To the west of the building there is a boulder that commemorates those who died in the world wars.
