Karel Viigipuu (born March 18, 1986 in Tartu ) is an Estonian biathlete .

Karel Viigipuu is a student and lives and trains in Elva . The Elva Skiclub athlete is trained by Rein Pedaja. He started biathlon in 1999 and has been a member of Estonia's national team since 2005. In 2005 he took part in the Junior World Championships for the first time in Kontiolahti and was 22nd in the individual, 45th in the sprint, 34th in the pursuit race and 15th in the relay. A year later at Presque Isle , the Estonian finished 53rd in the Individual, 47th in the Sprint and 44th in the Pursuit. In the further course of the year Viigipuu took part in the junior races of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2006 in Ufa and achieved 15th place in the sprint and eleventh in the pursuit in the cross-country competitions. On roller skis , ranks 13 in the sprint and six in the pursuit were added. In Martell she took part in her third and last Junior World Championship and reached 64th place in both the individual and the sprint. He also took part in the 2007 Summer Biathlon World Championships . They were held in their native Otepää . Viigipuu won the silver medal in the cross-country competition behind Daniil Steptšenko in the sprint and was seventh in the mass start. On rollerski he came in 28th place in the sprint and was 15th in the pursuit.

The first major event for men was the 2007 Military World Ski Championships in Võru , where Viigipuu did not finish his sprint race. In the 2007/08 season he made his debut in the men's IBU Cup . In Torsby he was 57 in his first sprint. Also in the season he contested his first race in the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof and was 77th of a sprint. The first European biathlon championships for men were the 2008 European biathlon championships in Nové Město na Moravě . Viigipuu was 63rd of the sprint and with Martten Kaldvee , Daniil Steptšenko and Martin Maasik 14th in the relay. He won his first points in the IBU Cup in 2009 as 28th of an individual in Ridnaun . At the same IBU Cup station, she was able to achieve her best place in the second highest racing series in the sprint as 27th. In 2010 the second participation in a European championship followed in Otepää . Viigipuu was 52nd in the individual, 37th in the sprint, 38th in the pursuit and with Kaldvee, Tõnis Uiboupin and Steptšenko eighth in the relay competition.
