Martin Maasik (born April 3, 1984 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian biathlete .

Martin Maasik is a student and lives and trains in Tallinn . The athlete from Sportclub Biathlon is trained by Tõnu Pääsuke. He started biathlon in 2003 and has been a member of Estonia's national team since 2005. Maasik started internationally for the first time in the junior races of the Biathlon World Championships 2004 in Minsk , where he was 37th in the sprint and 33rd in the pursuit. The highlight of the following season were the Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti , where the Estonian was 57th in the individual, 59th in the sprint, 46th in the pursuit and 16th in the relay race.

For men, Maasik started in the men’s European Cup, later the IBU Cup, since the 2004/05 season . In the first race, a single in Geilo at the start of the season, he was 50. In Nové Město na Moravě he achieved his best result in the racing series with a 35th place in the 2007 sprint . The first major event among men was the 2006 European Biathlon Championships in Langdorf , where the Estonian was 72nd individually, finished 66th in the sprint and was 18th in the relay race with Jarmo Nikolai , Anton Isatsenkov and Alari Remmelg . In the 2006/07 season , Maasik competed in his only race in the biathlon world cup in Hochfilzen and finished 107th in a sprint. The next major event was the 2007 Military World Ski Championships in Võru, Austria . Maasik came with Kauri Kõiv , Indrek Tobreluts and Priit Viks in fifth place in the military patrol run. At the Summer Biathlon World Championships in 2008 in Otepää , he was only used in the mixed relay and reached eighth place with Tagne Täne , Kadri Lehtla and Remmelg. In 2008 the Estonian came back to the European Championships in Nové Město and was 70th of the individual, missed the pursuit race as 66th of the sprint and reached 14th place with Martten Kaldvee , Karel Viigipuu and Daniil Steptšenko as the last runner of the relay.
