Daniil Steptšenko (born August 13, 1986 in Narva ) is a former Estonian biathlete .

Daniil Steptšenko has been competing internationally in biathlon competitions since 2005. His first major event was the 2005 Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti . Steptšenko was 45th in the individual, 43rd in the sprint, 46th in the pursuit and 15th in the relay. In the summer he took part in the junior competitions at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2005 in Muonio and was 12th in the sprint, 14th in the pursuit and 16th in the mass start and fifth in the Estonian relay. It took until 2007 that Steptšenko again took part in international competitions, now also in Junior European Cup races. The 2007 Junior World Championships in Martell brought them 21st place in the sprint and 30th in the pursuit race. In his native Otepää he started again in the summer of the same year in the junior competitions of the Summer World Cup . Before his compatriot Karel Viigipuu , he won the sprint in cross-country running and was ninth on roller skis in both the sprint and the pursuit.

Since 2008 Steptšenko starts in the performance area. The first major event among the seniors was the 2008 European Championships in Nové Město na Moravě , where the Estonian was 67th in the sprint and 14th in the relay. He contested his first biathlon World Cup in a relay race in Oberhof in 2008 and finished 18th. In the following years, however, he mostly competed in the IBU Cup , where he won his first points as 35th of an individual in Osrblie . In 2010 Steptšenko took part in several major events in the senior sector. In Otepää he ran at the 2010 European Biathlon Championships on ranks 36 in the sprint, 27 in the individual and eight in the relay race. At the season finale in Khanty-Mansiysk he ran a single race in the World Cup for the first time, and he finished in the sprint in 75th place. At the 2010 Biathlon Mixed Relay World Cup , Steptšenko with Kadri Lehtla , Eveli Saue and Priit Viks was 17th. In Presque Isle , Steptšenko finished in a sprint race in 2011 with rank 56, a new best World Cup result and qualified for a pursuit race for the first time. There he was able to improve his best performance again up to 51st place. The highlight of the season was the 2011 Biathlon World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk, where the Estonian was used in singles and was in the 93rd. A year later Steptšenko was used in the sprint in Ruhpolding and was 78th, as well as on the side of Kauri Kõiv , Indrek Tobreluts and Roland Lessing as the final runner 18th of the relay race. In the second race of the 2012/13 season , a sprint in Östersund , he won World Cup points for the first time in 38th place. A year later he achieved his best place in the World Cup in an individual as 35th. At the 2013 World Championships in Nové Město na Moravě, he finished 110th in the individual, 90th in the sprint and 16th with the relay, he was lapped. The highlight of his career was the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , in which the Estonian competed in five races. He was 62 in the individual, 50 in the sprint and 59 in the pursuit, with the relay as well as with the mixed relay he was lapped.

After the season Steptšenko ended his career at the age of 27 due to a lack of support from the association to become a construction worker.
