Kauri Kõiv (born July 25, 1983 in Elva , Estonian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Estonian biathlete .

Career

The sports soldier Kauri Kõiv from Elva has been practicing biathlon since 1995. He competes for the Elva Ski Club and is trained by Rein Pedaja. He has been part of his country's national team since 2004. The Estonian competed in his first major international races in 2002 as part of the Junior World Championships in Ridnaun , without, however , achieving any notable results in Kościelisko, as was the case the following year . The same applies to the European Junior Championships in Kontiolahti in 2002 and in Minsk in 2004, as well as the 2004 Summer Biathlon Junior World Championships in Osrblie .

Nevertheless, Kõiv was able to make his debut in the Biathlon World Cup at the end of the 2002/03 season . In Östersund , the Estonian was 71st in both the individual and the sprint. At the Biathlon World Championships 2012 in Ruhpolding , he achieved 26th place in the individual competition, the best result of an Estonian biathlete. At the end of the 2018/19 season, Kõiv ended his career as an active biathlete.
