from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl-Heinz Becker (born January 1929 - † May 29, 2019 in Wiesbaden ) was a local politician of the SPD . He last lived in Wiesbaden.

Career

In 1963 Becker became mayor of Herborn and remained in this office until 1972. From 1972 to the end of 1976, Becker was Herbert Günther's successor, the last district administrator in the Untertaunus district before the merger with the Rheingau district to form the Rheingau-Taunus district on January 1, 1977. Subsequently, he took on the duties of district administrator as state commissioner for the state of Hessen the newly created district for six months until after the local elections in Hesse in 1977 and after the defeat in the district election in the newly formed district council on June 20, 1977, his competitor Heribert Märten (CDU) was introduced to the office on July 1, 1977.

The Social Democrat considered the merger of the districts to be wrong because of their "structural and mental differences" and intervened accordingly with Prime Minister Albert Osswald and Interior Minister Hanns-Heinz Bielefeld , albeit in vain. Obedient to the need, he entered the upcoming coordination talks and led them to success, which he was only able to continue for a short time as the state commissioner district administrator.

In the following time, Karl-Heinz Becker took on very different tasks at the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau , the State Welfare Association of Hesse and the district's clinics.
