Gebhard Anton Otto von Trotha (born May 11, 1871 in Hecklingen , † December 9, 1933 in Gießen ) was a German administrative officer.

Life

Gebhard von Trotha came from the ancient Trotha family . His father was the ducal Anhalt-Köthenscher chamberlain and Prussian lieutenant Friedrich Wolf von Trotha, his mother was Walpurgis von Krosigk. Gebhard von Trotha remained unmarried.

He initially received private tuition and then attended the grammar school in Bernburg from 1883 to 1887 and the Roßleben monastery school from 1887 to 1889. On April 2, 1889, he passed his Abitur there and then spent six months in French-speaking Switzerland. From 1889 to 1894 he studied law and political science at the Georg-August University in Göttingen in Berlin and in Halle. In 1890 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . On December 10, 1894, he passed the legal traineeship examination (repeat examination, "sufficient"). He worked as a trainee lawyer at the Tangermünde District Court, Halberstedt Regional Court and the Halle Public Prosecutor's Office. From August 1, 1898 he was a government trainee with the Magdeburg government. On October 19, 1901, he passed the second state examination ("sufficient"). He then worked in the Franzburg District Office and the Liegnitz government. In 1908 he was appointed district administrator of the Untertaunus district.

During the First World War , von Trotha initially took part in front service as a reserve officer in the 2nd Guard Regiment. From May 1915 until the end of the war he was employed in the Lithuanian military administration.

During the Battle of the Ruhr von Trotha was expelled from France as District Administrator of the Untertaunuskreis in 1923. After he had taken over a temporary position at the high presidium in Kassel, he was appointed district administrator for the district of Eder in 1925 , where he remained in office until his death. He died in 1933 of the long-term effects of a serious war wound.
