Karl-Heinz Betz

Karl-Heinz Betz (born October 13, 1946 in Hamburg ) is a German biologist and journalist . For several years he was editor-in-chief hunting at Paul Parey magazine publisher .

Life

Karl-Heinz Betz completed his studies in zoology , hydrobiology , fisheries science and botany as a qualified biologist. In 1978 he was at the Department of Biology at the University of Hamburg with the dissertation to taxonomy and biology of the two isopods Sphaeroma hookeri Leach, 1814 and Sphaeroma rugicauda Leach, 1814 ( Flabellifera ) for Dr. rer. nat. PhD . He then worked for several years as a lecturer in zoology at the University of Hamburg.

As a passionate hunter , Betz then embarked on a career as a hunting journalist and was editor-in-chief of the trade journal Jäger for seven years . This was followed by eight years as managing director of Weyer Jagdreisen GmbH./ From 1997 to the cessation of broadcasting operations in 2001, he worked as editor-in-chief of the specialty television channel Seasons , on whose programs he also appeared as a presenter . From 2002 he was editor-in-chief of Wild und Hund , the largest hunting magazine in German-speaking countries, then as editor-in-chief for hunting at Paul Parey Zeitschriftenverlag, responsible for the three magazines Wild und Hund , Deutsche Jagd-Zeitung and Jagen Weltweit . Since November 2011 he has been working at the publishing house in the role of “Business Development Hunting”.

For a series of articles around the hunter language were wild and dog and its editor in chief in 2008 with the Ortega Award for hunting culture excellent.

Betz is a member of the Conseil International de la Chasse et de la Conservation du Gibier (CIC) , the International Council for the Conservation of Game. He is also involved in the training of young hunters and in the examination board for the hunter examination .

Karl-Heinz Betz described his hunting experiences in the book Weidwerk nah und Fern. Hunting stories from four continents (1997). In addition to hunting, which for him of course also includes the management of hunting dogs , he is engaged in angling , ornithology and photography .
