Warring Kennedy

Warring Kennedy (born November 12, 1827 in County Down , Ireland , † June 25, 1904 in Toronto ) was a Canadian politician and the 28th mayor of Toronto.

Kennedy immigrated to Toronto in 1858 and opened a wholesale market for textile goods there in 1869. The company was called Sampson, Kennedy and Gemmell . In 1877 he ran unsuccessfully for the mayor's office, tried again in 1893 and served as mayor from January 1894 to January 1896. He died in 1904 and was buried in Toronto's Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
