Philip Gerald Givens
Philip Gerald Givens (born April 24, 1922 in Toronto , Ontario , † November 30, 1995 ) was a judge, member of the lower house and was the 54th mayor of Toronto in the 1960s .
Givens was first a member of the Liberal Party of Canada and ran for federal elections in 1957 and 1958, but failed both times. From 1963 to 1966 he was mayor of Toronto. He sits down u. a. for the purchase of the Henry Moore sculpture , which is now located in Nathan Phillips Square in front of the New City Hall in Toronto . In 1968 he was elected to the lower house of the Canadian Parliament . He put this office in 1971 prematurely down to a candidate of the Ontario Liberal Party in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to collect. There he remained a member until 1977, when he retired from politics and worked as a judge.
