Fred Beavis (born October 8, 1914 in Toronto , Ontario , † July 11, 1997 ibid) was a Canadian politician. He was a longtime Toronto City Councilor and served as Toronto Mayor from September 1, 1978 to November 30, 1978 .

Beavis became a city councilor for the first time in 1961 and remained so with one exception between 1975 and 1977 until 1988. He was a member of several committees, including the executive committee. After David Crombie gave up his office as mayor in August 1978 to switch to federal politics, a new mayor had to be found on an interim basis. Beavis and City Councilor Anne Johnston had the same number of votes, so that the lot had to decide and so Beavis held the office until the mayoral election in November of the same year. Fred Beavis was married to Frances Beavis and died on 11 July 1997 in the Toronto St. Michael's Hospital at a pneumonia .
