William Hiltz

William W. Hiltz (* 1873 in Erin, Ontario ; † February 26, 1936 ) was the 39th mayor of Toronto .

Hiltz's ancestors come from the Palatinate and immigrated to America in the early 18th century. William Hiltz began his professional career as a teacher and later became a building contractor. This gave him great wealth, making him the second most taxed person in Toronto after Timothy Eaton . He and his son Bill Hiltz were deans of the Danforth Methodist Church . Wiliam Hiltz was Mayor of Toronto from January 1924 to January 1925.
