Donald Dean Summerville

Donald Dean Summerville (born 1915 in Toronto , Ontario ; † November 19, 1963 ) was a local politician and 53rd mayor of Toronto .

Summerville was the son of William A. Summerville, a former Toronto councilor and a member of the legislature of the Ontario provincial government. He served as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II . In 1955 he was elected to the city council and remained so until 1958. From 1959 to 1961 he was a member of the control committee. In 1962 he became mayor. He died a year later after suffering a heart attack in a charity hockey match.
