Emerson Coatsworth

Emerson Coatsworth (born March 9, 1854 in Toronto , Ontario , † May 11, 1943 ) was a Canadian lawyer, politician and the 33rd mayor of Toronto.

Coatsworth first attended public school and later studied law at a private school. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1886 . He was elected to the chamber in the 7th general election in Canada . As a member of the Conservative Party of Canada , he was defeated in the 8th general election by John Ross Robertson. In 1904 he was elected to the city council and was Mayor of Toronto from January 1906 to January 1908.
