Karl-Heinz Brandt (born June 1, 1958 in Eschweiler ) is a German opera and concert singer ( tenor ).

At the age of 17, Karl-Heinz Brandt was a student at the Hochschule für Musik Westfalen-Lippe, Institut Münster (today: Musikhochschule Münster ). After completing his artistic maturity examination , he worked for the Stadttheater Aachen, the Musiktheater im Revier (MiR) in Gelsenkirchen and, since 1998, at the Theater Basel.

During this time he sang almost all games from the game and character subject. He made his debut in Aachen and Gelsenkirchen with roles such as Monostatos ( Die Zauberflöte ), Pedrillo ( Die Entführung aus dem Serail ), Albert Herring ( Albert Herring ), der Steuermann ( The Flying Dutchman ) and David ( Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg ). In Basel followed u. a. In addition, there were “excursions” to the musical (King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar ) or to the drama ( Blood Wedding by Garcia Lorca) as well as various interdisciplinary productions directed by Christoph Marthaler ( La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein , several times 3sat broadcast, as well as my fair lady ).

Guest engagements led him u. a. to the Staatstheater von Karlsruhe , Staatstheater Wiesbaden , Staatstheater Nürnberg and Staatstheater Hannover as well as to the Semperoper , the Komische Oper Berlin , Theater an der Wien and the Opéra de la Bastille Paris. This resulted in a collaboration with conductors such as Michael Hofstetter , Marek Janowski , Armin Jordan , Antonio Pappano , Ingo Metzmacher , Cornelius Meister , Gabriel Feltz , Andrea Marcon , Johannes Kalitzke , Hans Zender , Hervé Niquet , Konrad Junghänel , Christoph and Andreas Spering and Frieder Bernius .

He worked with the directors Herbert Wernicke , Claus Guth , Jan Bosse , Christof Nel , Peter Konwitschny , Philipp Stölzl , Frank Castorf , Simon Stone and Calixto Bieito . With Christoph Marthaler's production Meine faire Dame he appeared at the Théatre National de L'Odéon as well as at the festivals in Avignon and Edinburgh.

As a concert and oratorio singer , preferably in the role of the evangelist of the Bach Passions , he gave concerts a. a. in the Alte Oper Frankfurt , the Tonhallen Zürich and Düsseldorf , in the Philharmonics of Cologne and Berlin , with the Chamber Choir and the Baroque Orchestra Stuttgart in Brussels and Barcelona and in Bamberg with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra .
