Karl-Heinz Wissmann

Karl-Heinz Wißmann (born February 2, 1947 ) is a former German soccer player . The striker and midfielder played 35 league games in the Bundesliga with MSV Duisburg from 1968 to 1970 and scored six goals. After moving to Belgium, he played 189 championship games and scored 27 goals at VV St. Truiden , RWD Molenbeek and KSK Beveren from 1970 to 1979 in the Belgian 1st division .

career

From the second Essen district class of DJK Grün-Weiß Werden-Heidhausen, Wissmann moved to Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg as a 21-year-old in 1968 . The MSV also signed the other players Helmut Huttary , Anton Burghardt , Johannes Riedl , Axel Rzany and Johannes Linssen . Under coach Robert Gebhardt , the former amateur player made his debut on January 11, 1969, in a 0-1 away defeat at FC Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. He played alongside Manfred Müller , Huttary and Willibert Kremer in midfield and tried to get the top Horst Gecks and Rainer Budde into position. At the end of the round, the team from Meiderich finished 12th and Wißmann had played five Bundesliga games. In his second round, 1969/70, he became a regular player with 30 league appearances and six goals. The support in the MSV housing, Manfred Manglitz had switched to 1. FC Cologne and attacker Gecks to Kickers Offenbach. Of the newcomers, only Hans Sondermann made it into the regular line-up and Duisburg fought continuously to stay in the Bundesliga in Wißmann's second year. In 1970 he moved to the Belgian first division club VV St. Truiden . Wissmann played there until 1975 and was in the Belgian cup final with his club in 1971 . During his time at St. Truiden he had occasional players like Jürgen Fuhrmann , Dieter Hentschel , the Austrian striker Alfred Riedel , Kurt Rettkowski and Lon Polleunis at his side. In 1975 he moved to the then Belgian master RWD Molenbeek . There he played until 1978. In the second round of the UEFA Cup , he was also in the two matches against FC Schalke 04 in November / December 1976 with RWDM on the field. The home game was won 1-0, in Schalke a 1-1 was enough to advance. In both games, Wissmann played in midfield alongside Johan Boskamp . He failed only in the UEFA Cup semi-final against Athletic Bilbao because of the "away goal rule". In 1978 Wissmann moved to KSK Beveren , where he immediately became Belgian champion with teammates such as Erwin Albert , Jean-Marie Pfaff and Heinz Schönberger and reached the semi-finals in the European Cup against FC Barcelona with the club . In 1979 he moved back to VV St. Truiden, where he played until 1982. Wißmann ended his career as a professional footballer in 1982 and now lives in Belgium.
