Karl Kübel Foundation for Children and Family
The Karl Kübel Foundation for Children and Families is a foundation under civil law with legal capacity based in Bensheim in the south of Hesse .
history
The foundation was established in 1972 by the entrepreneur Karl Kübel , who brought the proceeds from the 3K furniture works he sold in 1973 and most of his private assets into the foundation. In addition to the income from the foundation's assets, third-party funds and donations form the material basis for the foundation's work.
Together with partners, the Karl Kübel Foundation works to ensure that children are supported and encouraged in their educational and development processes by competent adults right from the start. The operational activities of the foundation include all local actors in the sense of the holistic approach of " helping people to help themselves" who work preventively and sustainably for the continuous improvement of the quality of life of families. The foundation sees education as the basis for empowerment , poverty reduction and equal opportunities. She appeals to the ecumenical belief in Christianity.
aims
The charitable commitment of the foundation is divided into three areas: domestic work, education and development cooperation.
The Domestic and Communication Department initiates and accompanies sustainable projects across Germany for holistic education in the social area - GaBi. Its aim is to sensitize politics, business and society to the needs of different families and to create a family-friendly living environment in cooperation with partners. Her commitment includes the promotion of parenting skills, the exemplary development of child and family centers and the establishment of participation structures.
In Germany, two educational institutes belong to the foundation: the Odenwald Institute in Wald-Michelbach, Hesse, with conference facilities on the Tromm, and the Felsenweg Institute in Dresden . While the Odenwald Institute offers courses and events in the areas of personality development , leadership, personal and professional development and strengthening family life, the Felsenweg Institute has focused on another area. It supports social planners and specialists in the development and implementation of qualification concepts. From 1995 to 2018 the foundation also maintained the Osterberg Institute in Niederkleveez , Schleswig-Holstein. It was closed at the end of 2018 for economic reasons. In India, the priority country for development cooperation, the Karl Kübel Institute for Development Education was opened in Coimbatore in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu in 1999 to train the employees of the partner organizations on site . The work of the foundation's development cooperation department focuses on projects in India, the Philippines and other developing countries, as well as development education in Germany.
Projects
In Germany, projects such as "Drop In (inclusive)" and support for the development of family-friendly quarters with the involvement of family centers that work according to the English concepts Sure Start and Early Excellence are implemented under the umbrella term "GaBi - Holistic Education in Social Space". The foundation cooperates with many federal states, districts, municipalities and cities. There are significant collaborations among others. a. with the states of Hesse, Saxony, Thuringia and Berlin. Numerous local projects such as Drop In (inclusive), learning with newspapers, specialist conferences on topics such as "Children with a refugee background in day care", "Inclusion and equal opportunities in early childhood education" have a direct impact on site.

The Karl Kübel Foundation has been running the Hessenstiftung since 2004 - the family has a future .
