Karl Albrecht (born May 21, 1891 in Schrozberg ; † 1955 ) was a German educationalist who worked in the Hamburg area.

Life

Albrecht received his doctorate in 1925 under Gustaf Deuchler . The dissertation combined methods of empirical psychology with mathematics lessons in elementary schools and was rated as "exact, hard-working, well-honed work" . In 1926 Albrecht was a research assistant , from 1927 to 1937 a researcher at the Hamburg Seminar for Educational Science , then a lecturer and from 1939 a professor at the Hamburg Hanseatic College for Teacher Training . From 1942, as professor and senior director of studies, he headed the teacher training institute I, newly established in 1941 for the training of elementary school teachers in Armgartstrasse, after its destruction in 1943 in the former secondary school in the city park. On August 10, 1945, Albrecht submitted a report on the activities of the teacher training institute during the Nazi era, in which he stated that the NSDAP had no influence in his institute. On August 24, 1945, the British military administration closed the three teacher training colleges in Hamburg. Albrecht published several arithmetic books for elementary school students. In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . He headed a mathematics working group of the Nazi teachers' association in the Hamburg district.

Based on his studies of the computing in the 1920s, he worked on his work with the influential Bavarian teacher trainer and author in Klinkhardt publishing house Franz Huber for the primary school education until the 1960s. Unlike other heads of the Hamburg teacher training institutes, such as Heinrich Geffert , Albrecht no longer took on a teaching position after 1945.
