Karl Bornhauser

Karl Bornhäuser (born May 19, 1868 in Mannheim , † March 27, 1947 in Marburg an der Lahn ) was a Protestant theologian .

Life

Bornhäuser was the son of a master baker and attended high school in Bruchsal . Then he studied theology at the universities of Greifswald - there he studied with Hermann Cremer - and Halle . In 1889 he passed the first theological exam, a year later the second. In 1890 he was ordained by the Evangelical Church in Baden and was pastor in Sinsheim and Karlsruhe .

In 1892/93 he completed his military service in Karlsruhe and served as a one-year volunteer in the 1st Baden Leib Grenadier Regiment No. 109 . He was a member of the Wingolf associations Hallenser Wingolf , Greifswalder Wingolf, Heidelberger Wingolf , Marburger Wingolf and Clausthaler Wingolf zu Marburg.

In 1894 he became a division pastor in Rastatt . Four years later he took a leave of absence and received his doctorate in Greifswald in 1899 (dissertation: “The right to confess to the resurrection of the flesh”). Later he was a professor in Greifswald, Halle (Saale) and Marburg . In 1933 he retired as a university preacher at the Philipps University of Marburg .
