Karl Christian von Brockhausen

Georg Carl Christian von Brockhausen (born March 8, 1767 at Gut Coldemantz near Greifenberg , Western Pomerania ; † December 12, 1829 in Berlin ) was a Prussian diplomat .

He comes from the line Brockhausen family Brockhausen . His father was Major Friedrich Wilhelm Siegesmund von Brockhausen (* February 24, 1740; † April 30, 1820) and his wife was Countess Gottliebe Christiane Emilie von Küssow (* September 3, 1750; † December 14, 1796).

Life

Brockhausen was born on a paternal estate to which his father, a deserving major in the cavalry, had retired after the Seven Years' War . Karl Christian von Brockhausen attended the cadet institute in Stolp and was introduced to the Prussian State and Cabinet Minister Count Hertzberg in April 1781 , who from then on promoted him and who initially arranged for his admission to the Académie militaire in Berlin , to which Brockhausen moved in 1782. Brockhausen was appointed Legation Councilor in 1786 and worked in Paris and The Hague from 1787–1788 and then in London . From 1791 he worked as an envoy at the court of Gustav III. of Sweden, on April 11, 1795 he became the Prussian envoy in Dresden . After the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 he was appointed Minister of State and appointed envoy at the imperial court in Paris, where he worked until 1810. 1814-1816 he was ambassador to the Dutch court. In 1817 he became a member of the Prussian State Council , where he was responsible in particular for trade affairs, cult and education.

He married Johanna Konstanze von Unruh on July 27, 1797 (* November 15, 1775; † August 29, 1809). The couple had several children:
