Karl Friedrich Eduard Eichstaedt (born November 7, 1801 in Mallmitz , † February 4, 1883 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His father was the art gardener JF Eichstaedt, his mother was born Freudenberg.

Military career

Eichstaedt entered the 2nd Pioneer Department of the Prussian Army as a pioneer on November 1, 1818 and graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School in 1820/22 . On September 17, 1821 he was promoted to Portepeefähnrich and while being promoted to Second Lieutenant , he was aggregated to the 1st Engineer Inspection on March 5, 1823 . On September 27, 1823 he was posted there and in 1824 transferred to the 2nd pioneer division. From December 21, 1827 to December 26, 1830 Eichstaedt was active in the 2nd engineer inspection, was then transferred to the 1st engineer inspection and assigned to the fortification service in Posen . He was promoted to Prime Lieutenant by the end of April 1836 and was transferred to the Guards Pioneer Department on October 30, 1841 . He was promoted to captain on March 25, 1843, when he was transferred to the 2nd pioneer division as chief of the 1st company. He was then transferred to the fortification service in Stettin on July 3, 1845 .

After the cabinet decided to fortify Swinoujscie on September 11, 1846, Eichstaedt was transferred there in 1848 as director of port fortifications and two years later appointed director of fortress construction. On June 8, 1852 he was transferred to Königsberg as a major and fortress construction director . In this position he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on April 9, 1857, and on June 27, 1857, he became inspector of the 2nd Pioneer Inspection. After he had been promoted to colonel on May 31, 1859 , Eichstaedt received the Crown Order III from King Wilhelm I in mid-October 1861 on the occasion of the coronation celebrations . Class. Eichstaedt took his leave on May 2, 1863 with his retirement, conferring the character of major general .

For the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the German War , Eichstaedt was reused in 1866 as the inspector of the 3rd fortress inspection. He died on February 4, 1883 in Berlin.
