Karl Gottlob Ludwig Sylvius von Frankenberg and Ludwigsdorf (* May 12, 1732 in Ludwigsburg ; † July 24, 1795 in Rawitsch ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the " Frankenberg Fusilier Regiment " named after him .

Life

Karl Gottlob Ludwig Sylvius was the son of Sylvius Karl von Frankenberg and Ludwigsdorf (June 1, 1689 - December 23, 1775) and his wife Eva von Beneckendorff (March 24, 1711 - October 17, 1796) from the Neukötitz family . His father was the privy councilor , chief court marshal , heir of Zedliz (Tebnitz district) and chancellor of the University of Tübingen and chief bailiff of the city and office of Tübingen .

Military career

In 1746, Frankenberg became a page at the Prussian court under Friedrich II. However , he then came into the Hesse-Kassel service and became an ensign in the “Hereditary Prince on Foot” regiment . On July 14, 1755 he became a lieutenant. He took part in the Seven Years' War and was seriously wounded in a battle at sea. Nevertheless, in 1760 he became a captain in his regiment, which was now called "Leibregiment". In 1764 he left his service in Hesse-Kassel. On April 2, 1765 he went into Prussian service . He became captain and chief of a grenadier company in the standing grenadier battalion "Zabelitz" . On January 3, 1774 he was transferred as a major to the " Fusilier Regiment Rohr " that had just been founded . At the end of the year on December 25, 1774 he became the commander of a grenadier battalion, which was composed of the grenadier companies of the fusilier regiments " Rohr " and " Hessen-Philippsthal ". He thus took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On June 18, 1783, Lieutenant Colonel in "Fusilier Regiment Klitzing" . On September 7, 1784, he was transferred to the "Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel on foot" regiment as commander . There Frankenberg was appointed colonel on May 30, 1785 and major general on August 26, 1790. On May 20, 1791 he was appointed head of his regiment. At the revue on May 23, 1792 in Berlin, he received the order Pour le Mérite . He took part in the war in Poland in 1794 , was in the occupation of Łowicz and the fighting at Poniatoski. He died a little later on July 24, 1795 in Rawitsch .
