Karl Kekulé

Ludwig Karl Emil Kekulé (also: Carl ) (born April 4, 1773 in Frankfurt am Main ; † August 28, 1847 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian war councilor, liberal politician and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Karl Kekulé was the son of the Chamber Council Johann Wilhelm Kekulé (1735-1806) and his wife Philippine Catharinea nee Coester (1741-1799). Kekulé, who was Protestant, married Susanne Magdalene nee Siebert (1793-1852) in her first marriage and Marie Margarethe nee Seip (1793-1852) in her second marriage. The chemist August Kekulé was his son.

He was a senior war assessor and was appointed a real senior war councilor in 1809. In 1821 he was retired.

From 1820 to 1824 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of Oberhessen 10 / Butzbach .
