Karl Ludwig Ferdinand Sallentien

Karl Ludwig Ferdinand Sallentien (born October 22, 1780 in Cattenstedt , † April 16, 1848 in Braunschweig ) was a German Lutheran theologian . He was general and city superintendent in Braunschweig.

Life

Sallentien, who came from an emigrant family in Salzburg , studied at the University of Helmstedt . He worked as a private tutor from 1800, became a pastor in Veltheim (Ohe) in 1808 and in Süpplingen in 1814 . In 1819 he went to the Martinikirche in Braunschweig as a pastor . In 1839 he was awarded the title of abbot of the Mariental monastery . Sallentien temporarily administered the city superintendent from 1840, before he became general and city superintendent in Braunschweig in 1843.

Sallentien was married to Friederike Charlotte, the daughter of the theologian Johann Carl Friedrich Witting . The marriage produced four children, including the theologian Karl Heinrich Ludwig Eduard Sallentien .
